Applicability of the IOTN-AC index in a bimaxillary protrusion population

Abstract Objective The objective of this study was to assess the validity IOTN-AC in assessment aesthetic impairment bimaxillary protrusion patients. Materials and methods A cross-sectional conducted involved 110 patients comprising 52 males (47.3%) 58 females (52.7%) who were accepted for fixed appliance treatment at University West Indies Dental Hospital provided consent use their records. mean age 13.45 years. Participants asked complete a questionnaire regarding reasons seeking orthodontic score self-perceived IOTN-AC. An orthodontist also scored malocclusion using IOTN (AC DHC). Results Spearman’s correlation between patient r = 0.435, ( p < 0.001). However, ‘normative’ need 0.198), as well 0.334), not correlated 0.124 0.094, respectively). Both scores agreement with (IOTN-DHC). Cohen’s kappa test determined an patient’s IOTN- AC orthodontist’s score, k 0.395, 0.001. revealed aesthetics primary reason but there poor items or 3 being most common both.
